A founding member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Fyneman Wilson, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the NDC as a “sole proprietorship” and a “one-man show” that is “heading nowhere.”

Wilson formally joined the APC on Monday at a reception held at the Golden Tulip, Government House, Onopa, where he was received alongside his supporters from across Bayelsa State.

Speaking at the event, the former NDC stalwart said his decision to leave the party was informed by what he described as its lack of internal democracy and inclusive leadership. According to him, the NDC has become a one-man affair with little prospect for growth.

The defection ceremony attracted prominent APC leaders, including the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Pastor Hon. Peter Akpe; former Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi; the Bayelsa APC State Secretary, Barr. Odoji Japan; and other party stakeholders.

Also in attendance was Hon. Living Mitin, member representing Ekeremor Constituency II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, who joined other APC leaders in welcoming Wilson and his supporters into the party.

The defection is being viewed as another notable political development in Bayelsa State, as the APC continues to strengthen its ranks through the influx of members from opposition parties.

As of the time of filing this report, the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress had not issued any official response to Wilson’s remarks or his defection.
