The New Development Team for Better Bayelsa (NDTBB), a non-governmental and non-profit organization focused on advocating for development, peace, and security in Bayelsa State, has concluded plans to confer awards of excellence on illustrious sons and daughters of the Biseni Clan and Yenagoa Constituency 3.
Speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Hon. Freeman Ovuru, disclosed that the ceremony will take place on October 3rd during the maiden edition of the Unified Bou-Amafunu Festival.
Ovuru, a pioneer president of Ijaw Communities in Abuja and currently Special Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on General Duties, explained that the recognition is aimed at celebrating the outstanding contributions of Biseni indigenes to community growth and development. He added that the award will henceforth be an annual highlight of the Bou-Amafunu Festival.
Among the honourees are Hon. Franklin Otele, a political leader widely respected for his philanthropy; Chief Ebibulo Amaoru, known for his goodwill and support for the people; Hon. Bulodiseye Ndiwari, Mayor of Yenagoa; and the influential Barr. Zuwa Enuogha, among others.
According to Ovuru, the award conferment is organized in collaboration with the Bayelsa Merit and Enterprise Awards (BAMA). He described the forthcoming event as “epoch-making,” confirming that nomination letters have already been served to the recipients.
He further disclosed that subsequent editions of the award will continue to recognize other deserving sons and daughters of Biseni who are not on this year’s list. Beyond the Biseni Clan, other personalities such as Hon. Gentle Omelah and Hon. Ted Emefuru will also be honoured for their contributions to political and economic development in the constituency.
Ovuru appealed to Biseni sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora to attend the program in large numbers. He also expressed gratitude to the Biseni Council of Chiefs, the Bou-Amafunu Festival Planning Committee, federated CDC leaders, youth and women leaders, and the entire Biseni community for their support and prayers.
