…Suspect Nabbed After Violent Altercation

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested one Joseph Okon Eren, a 37-year-old man, in connection with the death of his neighbour during a violent altercation in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

Heated Argument Turns Deadly

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, on Sunday, the suspect engaged in a heated argument with his neighbour, identified as Ekopimo Effiong Moses, the youth president of the community.
The dispute, which occurred on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at about 6:00 p.m., quickly escalated into a physical fight. Both men reportedly resorted to using machetes.

Victim Pronounced Dead

Moses, aged 34, sustained severe injuries during the scuffle and was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment. He was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

Police Recover Weapon

The suspect, a resident of the village but originally from Ikot Obiondobo in Uruan LGA, was immediately apprehended by operatives. Police also recovered a machete believed to be the weapon used in the fight.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue.

Investigation Underway

John added that the command has launched a discreet investigation into the matter and assured that further details will be made public as the investigation progresses.
